Château Ausone 2002 x 6
Château Ausone is an iconic estate that has held rank of Premier Grand Cru Classe "A" in each Classification of Saint-Émilion since the qualification's formation in 1959. In 2021 Château Ausone voluntary withdrew from the official Saint-Émilion classification system as they did not agree with the new classification specifications.
The wines are typically a blend of 50-60% Cabernet Franc and 40-50% Merlot from old vines with an average age of 55+ years, their Cabernet Franc Vines are seriously old at over 100 years of age! Matured for 18 - 24 months, most vintages in 100% new oak.
Château Ausone
Chateau Ausone, situated in the outskirts of the village of Saint Emilion in Bordeaux, France is one of the smaller, but most historic, estates in the area. The Château has a strong link to the Roman poet Ausonius, who owned over 100 acres of vineyards around Saint-Émilion.
