Congratulations, you’ve won one or more lots in our auction!

Next, you’ll need to decide what to do with your bottle(s). You can choose to have your order shipped to you, collect it in-person from our Perth office, or use our Wine Auctioneer storage service. To learn more, please read our Buyer Guide.

Please ensure payment is made within 72 hours of the auction closing to avoid late payment charges and to help us promptly ship your bottles or store them securely.

Below are some of our most frequently asked questions related to our checkout process and the options available to you.

If you can't find the information you're looking for, please contact our Client Service team.

Our standard courier options include DHL, UPS, Parcelforce, DPD, and CID. The courier will vary depending on the order.

If you prefer a specific courier, you can leave an order comment during checkout, and our warehouse team will try to accommodate your request.

Please note: Wine Auctioneer can only ship with the couriers listed above. If you'd like to use a different courier, you’ll need to arrange collection from our Perth Office. Select 'Collection' at checkout and contact our Client Service team for guidance.

*Please note: CID is only available for US-bound orders.

Yes! If you selected "Store" during checkout, your order will automatically be added to your Collection in your Personal Profile under "Stored." From there, you can select individual bottles and use the "Manage" three-dot icon to choose "Ship."

You'll then receive a shipping calculation for those bottles and have the option to proceed to checkout for payment.

Yes, you can collect your bottles in person. Please be sure to book an appointment in advance, our booking calendars can be found on our Contact Us page.

Please note: Collections are only available from our Head Office in Perth. While our London office is available for drop-offs, we do not offer order collection services from that location.

Businesses are required to pay VAT on their sales. As an auctioneer, we do not own the bottles on our website and our sale is registered as the auction fees that apply to the bottle sale price. Due to this, no VAT will be applied to the hammer price of your wine, but instead to our commission and fees.  

The VAT rate for UK lots is 20%. Please note, this VAT is only payable when your items remain in the country of purchase. For example:

Auction fees that apply to UK lots are applicable when:

  1. The bottles are shipped to a UK address.
  2. The bottles are stored in our UK warehouse.
  3. The bottles are relisted into a future auction

If your shipping address is outside of the UK, no VAT will be applied at checkout. (Local customs fees and import costs will apply for international shipments, so please be aware of these prior to shipment).

If shipping stored orders outside of the UK, the VAT is reclaimable but ONLY if the bottles are delivered to you within 3 months from the date of purchase. Please contact our Client Services team for more information on this.

All Wine Auctioneer orders are fully tracked, so you can easily follow your bottle’s journey. Tracking updates will begin once your order has been dispatched from our warehouse.

For orders processed by a forwarding company, such as those to the U.S., you'll receive additional tracking information as soon as it's available.

You can store your bottles with Wine Auctioneer for as long as you like! Storage is charged at 3% (ex. VAT) of the bottle's hammer price for the first 90 days. After this, storage is charged at 1% (ex. VAT) for every 30 days your bottles are in storage with us.

Please note: there is a minimum storage fee of £5 per bottle (per 30 day period).

We aim to ship all orders within 10 business days of receiving payment. Once your order has left our warehouse, you can expect delivery within 5 business days to most locations. Please visit our Shipping page for more information.

Wine Auctioneer provides five-forms of secure and trusted payment services to transfer your funds with confidence. 

Plaid

We are delighted to now offer an open-banking payment service with Plaid which supports in-app payments.

Debit Card, Mastercard and Credit Card

A straight-forward and secure method of payment - please enter your card details at checkout. If you are based outside the UK, please check that your bank allows you to make online purchases in foreign currencies before trying this method. 

Bank Transfer

For a bank transfer payment, we will provide the relevant details so that you can arrange a secure transfer of your order total. Please note: depending on your bank, it may take us longer to receive the money using this payment method and so there could be delays in shipping your order.  

Unfortunately, we cannot accept Cash, Cheque, PayPal or JCB / Diners / Maestro Cards. If you wish to pay using another method, please contact us.

What next? After successful payment, you have a few options to choose from. It is possible to collect bottles from our office in Perth, arrange shipment of your order or choose to have them stored securely at Wine Auctioneer.

Storage

Our storage service is available for both short-term and long-term needs. For some customers, it’s practical to store bottles from multiple auctions and ship them together to save on costs.
