Seller Fees and Payment Terms
Wine Auctioneer is committed to building trust and confidence with our customers by being transparent about all fees and charges throughout the selling process.
You can find all seller fees and payment terms detailed below. Please note, all fees quoted are exclusive of VAT.
Registration Fee
£5
Our one-off registration fee provides lifetime access to buy and sell in all of our auctions. It is required to help us authenticate our customers and mitigate against illegitimate bidding.
Selling Commission
5% of final hammer price
Selling commission is added to your invoice and deducted from your payment total after your lots have sold.
Listing Fee
£7 per lot
Reserve Fee
£10 per lot
To protect the value of your bottles, you can set a reserve price for each lot, ensuring a minimum value is achieved if the lot sells.
The minimum reserve price is £50, and reserve prices should not exceed 80% of the most recent hammer price within the past 12 months. For new releases, reserve prices should not exceed the RRP within 12 months.
*All reserve prices are subject to Wine Auctioneer's discretion. If you have any questions about selling with us, please complete our Seller Form, and a member of our Client Service team will get back to you within one working day.
Supplementary Charges
If needed, we can supply packing materials (£5 per bottle plus shipping costs) to ensure the safe and secure transit of your bottle(s).
We strive to offer free bottle collections, either through our dedicated service or by courier, whenever possible. If this isn’t feasible, we will provide a quote for collection fees.
International Transfer Fees
If we are sending your seller payment internationally, please note that it may be subject to international transfer fees, which must be accepted by the seller.
Payment Terms
When your item sells, we will make payment to you within 21 business days of the auction closing.
Frequently Asked Questions
If your item does not meet the reserve price, the listing fee and reserve fee will still apply.
You can choose to re-list the item (subject to fees) or discuss having the bottle returned to you (subject to delivery charges).
All the information you need to sell your wine can be found in our step-by-step Seller’s Guide. This guide is designed to walk you through our easy, hassle-free process and help you get started with selling your wine at auction online.
Wine Auctioneer accepts a wide variety of wines, including red, white, rosé, sparkling wines, and fortified wines such as Port, Sherry, and Marsala.
We do not accept consignments of miniature bottles, spirits, vermouth, beers, ciders, or non-alcoholic wines. If you would like to sell spirits, please see our sister-sites, Whisky Auctioneer and Rum Auctioneer.
Our team conducts a thorough authenticity and condition check for all bottles received. We only accept bottles in good condition with intact seals and no leakage. Wine Auctioneer reserves the right to withdraw or reject any bottle that shows signs of leakage at any point before the auction ends. If a bottle is deemed unlikely to meet the starting bid value, it may be rejected at our discretion.
Sellers are paid within 21 business days after the auction closes, but payment is only processed once the buyer has completed their payment.
Payments are made via direct bank transfer and may take a few days to appear in your account. Please note that any banking fees or exchange rates are paid for by the seller.
To ensure a smooth payment process, please make sure your Seller Payment Details are updated in your Personal Profile.
