Burgundy’s wine history is rooted in centuries of cultivation, with its development closely linked to the work of monastic communities during the Middle Ages. These early vintners recognised the unique characteristics of the region’s varied terroir, which ranges from limestone-rich soils to diverse microclimates. The Côte de Nuits, renowned for its red wines predominantly made from Pinot Noir, is home to celebrated estates such as Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. In the Côte de Beaune, both red and white wines are produced with notable examples coming from producers like Domaine Leflaive and Domaine des Comtes Lafon. Additionally, Chablis, located in the northern part of Burgundy, is distinguished by its crisp, mineral-driven Chardonnay.
