Bouchard Aine & Fils Cuvee Docteur-Peste 1976 Corton Grand Cru / Hospices De Beaune 148cl

Hospices de Civiles de Beaune is a former charitable almshouse founded in 1443 in the town of Beaune. It is now a modern hospital, with the original buildings serving as a museum.

Since 1859, a charity wine auction has raised funds for the hospital with the wines produced being released under the Hospice's umbrella label.

Quinta Do Crasto Touriga Nacional 2015 Douro 150cl

100% Touriga Nacional from the terraced vineyards of the mesmerising Douro Valley; matured for 14 months in French oak barrels.

Touriga Nacional is a variety of red wine grape indigenous to Portugal and considered by many to be Portugal's finest. Despite the low yields from its small grapes, it plays a big part in the blends used for ports. It has recently seen a huge increase in popularity as a single varietal wine.

This is a 1.5 litre magnum bottle. Large-format bottles are great for extended ageing periods due to the wine's slower rate of maturation.

Barale Fratelli 'Castellero' 1976 Barolo 2x75cl

Barolo, often referred to as the “king of wines”,  must always be made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes-, and matured for a minimum period of 38 months, 18 of which must be in oak barrels - (traditionally in large Slavonian oak casks).

Barolo wine comes from a traditional village of the same name located in the northern region of Piemonte. It is so revered that it was one of just three wines awarded DOCG status on the same day that the classification was introduced in July 1980. The region encompasses 11 villages in the heart of Piemonte, Most of the estates are small and family-owned, therefore production of wines from the Barolo DOCG is low.

This wine is from the single vineyard of Castellero.
