Marques De Murrieta \"Castillo Ygay\" 1978 Rioja Gran Reserva Especial 3x 75cl

Tempranillo dominant blend from the iconic Marques De Murrieta in the Rioja region of northern Spain. Castillo Ygay is the estate's flagship wine; Matured in American Oak barriques for a period in excess of the minimum 24 months required to classify as Gran Reserva.

Marqués de Murrieta is the oldest family winery based in Rioja, concentrating exclusively on the production of premium Reserva and Gran Reserva wines since 1852.

This 1978 vintage of their famous Gran Reserva Especial is a blend of 75% Tempranillo, 12% Mazuelo (aka Carignan), 10 Garnacha Tinta and 3% Graciano: matured for an impressive 18 years (216 months) in American oak barrels.

Hospices de Civiles de Beaune is a former charitable almshouse founded in 1443 in the town of Beaune. It is now a modern hospital, with the original buildings serving as a museum.

Barolo, often referred to as the “king of wines”,  must always be made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes-, and matured for a minimum period of 38 months, 18 of which must be in oak barrels - (traditionally in large Slavonian oak casks).

Barolo wine comes from a traditional village of the same name located in the northern region of Piemonte. It is so revered that it was one of just three wines awarded DOCG status on the same day that the classification was introduced in July 1980. The region encompasses 11 villages in the heart of Piemonte, Most of the estates are small and family-owned, therefore production of wines from the Barolo DOCG is low.
