The appellation of Vacqueyras in France's Southern Rhône Valley was officially created out of the greater regional-appellation of Côtes-Du-Rhône-Villages in the year 1990. The wines of Vacqueyras must contain a minimum proportion of 50% Grenache blended with Syrah, Mourvèdre and small amounts of other permitted Côtes du Rhône varieties.
