Typically a Merlot dominant, right-bank Bordeaux-blend from one of the oldest wine estates in the appellation of Pomerol; Matured for approximately 20 months in 50% new French Oak barrels.

Pomerol is the only major Bordeaux appellation that is not classified, however Vieux Château Certan has long been recognised among the great growths of the region. The wines come from a single-block vineyard of 14 hectares (35 acres) with an average vine age of roughly 50 years.

Sangiovese dominant from the famed Chianti Classico in the heartland of Tuscany, renowned as the original area of Chianti - and, since 1924, identified as such by the stamp of a black rooster on gold.

Chianti Classico wines must contain a minimum of 80% of Sangiovese. The remainder can be made from native grapes such as Canaiolo or Colorino, as well as international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Wines made only from Sangiovese have been permitted since 1996.

100% Sangiovese from the Tuscan town of Montalcino.

Brunello di Montalcino is one of the great under-appreciated wines of Italy.  100% Sangiovese which undergoes an extended period of pre-fermentation maceration to extract maximum colour, flavour and tannins which affords the wine its ability to mature for long periods.  Brunello di Montalcino must be aged in oak - commonly Slavonian oak - for a minimum of 2 years, though traditionally winemakers would age their Brunellos in oak for at least 3 years prior to release.

Tempranillo dominant red wine from the Rioja region in northern Spain; Classified as a Reserva, this wine was matured for a minimum period of 12 months in oak barrels.

Rioja is arguably Spain's top wine region and is one of only two regions classified under the Denominación de Origen Calificada (DOCa) system. Other than Tempranillo and Garnacha, Graciano and Mazuelo (Carignan) are also used in the red wines of Rioja. 

This particular wine was  matured for 3 years in American oak and selected by Tesco supermarket store.

Our monthly auctions end from 7:00 PM (UK local time) on the closing date. If a bid is placed after 7:00 PM on any lot, the entire auction will be extended by an additional two minutes. 

The auction will end once all bidding has ceased for two minutes. Based on previous auction activity, the auction will continue for several hours and is most likely to finish between 9pm - 11pm (UK local time).
