Le Pergole Torte is a celebrated Italian wine first produced in 1977, named after the first vineyard planted by Sergio Manetti. It is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes from vineyards planted between 1968 and 1999, and aged for 12 months in barriques, followed by 12 months in Slavonian oak casks and an additional 3 months in bottle before release.
Montevertine is a family-owned winery in Tuscany’s Chianti region, established in 1967. Renowned for its Sangiovese-based wines, including the flagship Le Pergole Torte, the estate emphasises low yields, biodynamic farming, and traditional winemaking to express terroir purity.
Sangiovese is a red grape variety native to Italy and is the most widely-planted in the country. The grape is key to a number of blends but is particularly known for those made in Tuscany.
