Château Montrose is a 2nd Growth (2eme Cru) estate in the 1855 Classification of the Medoc, and is frequently referred to as one of the leading "Super Seconds" - 2nd Growth wines of quality comparable to the 1st Growths.
Typically a classic Bordeaux-blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc from the left-bank appellation of Saint-Estèphe; Matured for approximately 18 months in 60% new French Oak barrels
Château Montrose is situated in the St-Estèphe appellation of the Médoc region in Bordeaux, France. Before Bordeaux wine was produced at this estate, it earned fame for being a hunting area. The first vines were planted in 1815 by Nicolas Alexandre de Ségur.
