From the famed Bordeaux appellation of Margaux located in the Haut-Médoc district in the Right Bank of Bordeaux, southwestern France, Château d'Issan is a 3rd Growth (3eme Cru) estate in the 1855 Classification of the Médoc.

Their wine is simple, classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (60-70%) and Merlot; matured in 50% new French Oak barrels for 16-18 months.

The reputation of this wine was made as far back as the 12th century, when it was reported to have been served at the wedding of Eleanor of Aquitaine and Henri Plantagenet, King of England, in 1152.
