From the famed Bordeaux appellation of Saint-Julien, Château Branaire-Ducru (sometimes referred to simply as Château Branaire) is a 4th Growth (4ème Cru) estate in the 1855 Classification of the Médoc.
The wine is a typical left-bank Bordeaux-blend featuring a high dominance of Cabernet Sauvignon, approximately 25% Merlot and tiny portions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot; matured for a minimum of 18 months in 60% new French oak barrels.
Château Branaire-Ducru is a wine estate located in the Saint-Julien appellation of the Médoc region in Bordeaux, France. The history of Château Branaire-Ducru began in 1680, when Jean-Baptiste Braneyre acquired the estate. In 1824, the grand château that is still in use today was built.
