Château Haut-Brion 1970 Pessac-Léognan 1er-Grand-Cru

From the appellation of Pessac-Léognan (originally Graves before 1987), Château Haut-Brion is one of the great Bordeaux wine estates, listed as one of only five 1st Growth (1er-Cru) in the famed 1855 Classification of Médoc. Although Haut Brion was located in Graves (the other four are in the Médoc), the Château was recognised for the exceptional quality of its wines and has always merited its place amongst the finest wines of Bordeaux and indeed the world.

The wines of Château Haut-Brion feature varying compositions of approximately 40-50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40-60% Merlot, with Cabernet Franc; matured in oak barrels (approximately 70-80% new) for 18-22 months.

Cristal is typically made from a blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay grapes and is matured for 6 years followed by a further 8 months after disgorgement.

Vintage Port is a specific style of Ruby Port which is made only in exceptional years and from the ripest grapes. The fermented wine is fortified before being aged for 2 years in massive oak vats which preserve the ripe fruit character. Upon bottling, the wines continue to age and can reward patient maturation for many decades.

Cockburn’s is one of the greatest names in Port, established by Scotsman Robert Cockburn in 1815, who returned to Portugal after first visiting the country as a soldier.

From the Saint-Julien appellation, Clos Du Marquis is frequently considered to be the unofficial second-wine of Chateau Leoville Las Cases - 2nd Growth (2eme Cru) estate in the 1855 Classification of the Medoc; yet is regarded by owners, Domaines Delon, as an unclassified parallel-wine. Located uphill from the famed walled-vineyard of Leoville Las Cases, the grapes ripen slightly later than the \"Enclos\".

From the Pauillac appellation, Chateau Grand-Puy Ducasse is a 5th Growth (5eme Cru) estate in the 1855 Classification of the Medoc.

The wine is typically a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (~60%) and Merlot (~40%); Matured in French Oak barrels for approximately 18 months.

As is common with historic Bordeaux properties, this Chateau has went through a number of name changes from, Grand-Puy Saint-Guirons, Saint Guirons-Lacoste to Grand-Puy-Lacoste.

This is a 3 litre double magnum bottle. Large-format bottles are great for extended ageing periods due to the wine's slower rate of maturation.

Le Petit Mouton De Mouton-Rothschild 1996 Pauillac

Le Petit Mouton is the second wine from the 1st-Growth (1er-Cru) Pauillac estate, Chateau Mouton-Rothschild. Produced since the 1993 vintage, it takes it's name after the residence of its owner, Philippine de Rothschild.

Classic Cabernet Sauvignon dominant, left-bank Bordeaux-blend - sourced from younger vines than used in their grand vin; matured in oak barrels for an undisclosed period of time.

Château Mouton-Rothschild is one of the great Bordeaux wine estates.  In spite of its prominence, the estate was listed as only a 2nd-Growth in the famed 1855 Classification of Medoc - an injustice that was finally confirmed with their promotion to the exclusive rank of 1st-Growth in 1973.

Since the formation of the Saint-Emilion Classification in 1955, Chateau Figeac has held its rank as Premier Grand Cru Classé \"B\", until 2022 when it was promoted to Premier Grand Cru Classé \"A\".

As an anomaly for Saint-Emilion, Merlot is the minor grape variety at Château Figeac. The wines being composed of approximately 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc and only 30% Merlot; matured exclusively in new French Oak barrels for 15-18 months.

Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey​ 1937 Sauternes 1er-Cru

Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey was ranked, as part of the former Chateau Peyraguey, as a First Growth Premier Cru (1er-Cru) in Bordeaux' famed 1855 Classification of the Gironde.

The wines of Sauternes are produced from a blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc, left on the vines until affected by the noble fungus, Botrytis Cinerea, which dehydrates the grapes to raisins, leaving only the sweet sugary pulp with which to make the most incredible sweet wine.
