Portugal is a well-known wine producing country, with a long history of winemaking dating back to 2000 BC when vines were cultivated by the Tartessians. The country is famous for its production of Port wine, made from grapes grown in the Douro region, as well as other red, white and rosé wines made from various grape varieties.
