Not to be confused with the Montepulciano grape variety, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano comes from the town of Montepulciano in southeast Tuscany. The wine must be made from a minimum of 70% Sangiovese blended with Canaiolo Nero (10%–20%) and small amounts of other local varieties such as Mammolo.
Sangiovese is a red grape variety native to Italy and is the most widely-planted in the country. The grape is key to a number of blends but is particularly known for those made in Tuscany.
Italy is a wine-making powerhouse, renowned for its diverse range of wines and regions including Tuscany, Piedmont, and Veneto.
