The wine features the classic Bordeaux grapes of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc; unusually however, vintage variation is significant with a majority being contributed from any one of these 3 grapes.
From the appellation of Pauillac, Château d'Armailhac, is a 5th Growth estate in the 1855 Classification of the Médoc. The Château was purchased by the Rothschild family in 1933 and was formerly known under the names: Château Mouton Baron Philippe, Mouton Baronne Philippe and Mouton d'Armailhac.
