History

Maison Leroy was founded in 1868 by François Leroy in Auxey-Duresses, Burgundy, initially as a négociant business focused on trading and aging fine wines. Over the decades, the company established strong relationships with top growers and built a reputation for selecting and bottling high-quality Burgundy wines under its own label.

In 1942, Lalou Bize-Leroy, granddaughter of the founder, joined the family business and later became its leading figure. Under her leadership, Maison Leroy expanded its focus from négociant activities to owning vineyards, acquiring significant holdings in Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. Lalou Bize-Leroy also co-managed Domaine de la Romanée-Conti for several years, further raising her profile in the wine world.

Today, Maison Leroy is renowned for its commitment to biodynamic viticulture, a practice introduced by Lalou Bize-Leroy in the late 1980s. The company continues to produce highly sought-after wines from both its own domaine and carefully selected négociant sources, emphasizing purity, terroir expression, and low-intervention winemaking.
