Quintarelli is a historic, family-owned wine estate in Valpolicella, Veneto, founded by Giuseppe Quintarelli. It is celebrated for its artisanal Amarone, Recioto, and Bianco Secco, crafted with traditional appassimento, long ageing, and meticulous vineyard selection.

History

Giuseppe Quintarelli (1927–2012), commonly called “Bepi,” took over his family’s Valpolicella estate in Negrar in the early 1950s. His father, Silvio, had established the business in 1924, and Giuseppe modernised practices while preserving traditional methods. He introduced native and international grapes, stringent vineyard selection and prolonged ageing regimes, distinguishing his Amarone di Valpolicella as a reference style.

Influenced by local tradition yet innovative in approach, Quintarelli only produced Amarone in top vintages, meticulously drying grapes over months and ageing wines for up to eight years in Slavonian oak casks. He earned renown for artisanal detail - from hand‑written labels to cork and bottle quality - and mentored winemakers like Romano Dal Forno.

After his death, the estate passed to his daughter Fiorenza, son‑in‑law Giampaolo Grigoli, and grandsons Francesco and Lorenzo, who maintain his philosophy. Today, Quintarelli wines continue to embody patience, terroir expression, and uncompromising quality, reflecting a legacy that has shaped Valpolicella and Italian winemaking.
