Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is a wine estate located in the Pauillac appellation of the Médoc region in Bordeaux, France.
Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, located in the Pauillac appellation of Bordeaux, traces its origins to 1689 when Pierre de Mazure de Rauzan established the estate. In 1694 his daughter Thérèse married Jacques de Pichon Longueville, integrating the property into the Pichon family lineage. The estate remained unified until 1850 when it was divided between the heirs of Baron Joseph de Pichon Longueville, resulting in the creation of two distinct properties: Château Pichon Longueville Baron and Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande.
The Comtesse de Lalande portion was inherited by Virginie de Pichon Longueville who managed the estate and commissioned the construction of the château that bears her name. In 1855 the estate was classified as a Second Growth (Deuxième Cru) in the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification. In 1925 the property was acquired by the Miailhe family and in 1978, May-Eliane de Lencquesaing took over its management. Under her leadership the estate expanded its vineyard holdings and invested in modernising its facilities, enhancing the quality and reputation of its wines.
In 2007 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande was sold to the Rouzaud family, owners of Champagne Louis Roederer. The new ownership implemented further investments in the vineyard and winemaking infrastructure, including a focus on sustainable and biodynamic practices. Today the estate continues to produce wines that reflect the unique terroir of Pauillac, maintaining its status as one of Bordeaux's esteemed Second Growths.
