History

Château La Conseillante, located in the Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux has a history dating back to the mid-18th century. In 1734 a Libourne iron merchant named Catherine Conseillan inherited the estate and expanded its vineyards to 12 hectares. She named the property "La Conseillante," a feminised version of her surname. Upon her death the estate passed through several families, including the Despujol and Leperche-Princeteau families before being acquired by Louis Nicolas in 1871. The Nicolas family has maintained ownership since then, with the fifth generation currently managing the estate.

Situated on the eastern edge of Pomerol, Château La Conseillante's vineyards benefit from a unique terroir composed of clay and gravel soils. The estate cultivates primarily Merlot (approximately 80%) and Cabernet Franc (around 20%) across its 12 hectares. This composition contributes to the wine's characteristic balance and complexity.

In recent years Château La Conseillante has embraced modern viticultural practices while preserving its traditional winemaking methods. The estate produces two wines: the grand vin Château La Conseillante, and a second wine, Duo de Conseillante, introduced in 2007. Both wines reflect the estate's commitment to quality and its distinctive Pomerol terroir.
