Vi de la Terra / IGP

Since 2016, the Spanish wine classification Vino de la Tierra (VdT) has been officially aligned with the European Union designation Indicación Geográfica Protegida (IGP), or Protected Geographical Indication. However, producers are still permitted to use the traditional term Vino de la Tierra on wine labels. Wines in this category originate from a defined geographical area and are subject to fewer production regulations than higher classifications such as Denominación de Origen Protegida (DOP).
