Cava is a highly regarded sparkling wine made according to the traditional method (método tradicional) produced throughout Spain, predominantly in the Penedès wine region in Catalonia. The permitted grapes used in Cava prodcution are Macabeo, also known as Viura, Xarel·lo, Parellada, Chardonnay, Grenache, Malvasía, Trepat, Pinot noir and Monastrell.
Macabeo, also known as Viura in Spain, is a white wine grape predominantly grown in the Rioja and Penedés regions. It produces wines known for their crisp acidity, floral aromas, and citrus notes.
Spain is one of the largest wine-producing countries in the world and is known for its rich and flavourful red wines, particularly those from the Rioja region.
