Sweet dessert wine similar to that of a Tokaij or Sauternes wine, made from the white wine grape Muscat from the Crimea region of Ukraine.
This wine was originally included as part of the now-famous "Massandra Collection" by Sotheby's in 2004.
The historic Massandra (Массандра) winery is located on the south coast of the Crimean peninsula and was originally built for Tsar Nicolas II in 1894. It has been continuously been producing a variety of wines for more than a century.
Muscat is a white wine grape variety that is widely grown throughout the world, with a long history of cultivation dating back to ancient times.
Ukraine has a long history of winemaking, dating back to ancient times. In particular, the Crimea and the area around the southern city of Odessa both boast a strong viticultural history and wine production however the former has been jeopordised by the region's annexation by Russia in 2014.
