Since the formation of the Saint-Émilion Classification in 1955, Château Figeac has held its rank as Premier Grand Cru Classé "B", until 2022 when it was promoted to Premier Grand Cru Classé "A".
As an anomaly for Saint-Émilion, Merlot is the minor grape variety at Château Figeac. The wines being composed of approximately 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc and only 30% Merlot.
Château Figeac is one of the leading estates in the Bordeaux appellation of Saint- Émilion in France. The wine, with its high Cabernet content, has often been described as the most Médoc-like in Saint-Émilion. Figeac can trace its roots back to the 2nd century and a Roman senator named Figeacus.
France is widely recognized as one of the world's premier wine-producing countries, renowned for its diverse range of wine styles and regions, including Champagne, Bordeaux, and Burgundy.
Premier Cru Classé is a designation from the 1855 Bordeaux Wine Official Classification, ranking select châteaux in Médoc and Sauternes among the highest quality producers. It signifies exceptional wines with longstanding reputations, subject to strict production standards.
