Olivier Leflaive

Olivier Leflaive is a respected wine producer based in Puligny-Montrachet, Burgundy. Founded in 1984, the estate produces wines from both estate-owned and sourced grapes, focusing on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Their portfolio includes wines from village to Grand Cru appellations, emphasising terroir expression and traditional Burgundian winemaking practices.

History

Olivier Leflaive, a member of the 18th generation of the Leflaive family, established Maison Olivier Leflaive in 1984 in Puligny-Montrachet, Burgundy. Drawing from his experience co-managing Domaine Leflaive, he ventured into creating his own négociant business, focusing on vinifying and ageing wines from grapes sourced across Burgundy. This approach allowed him to produce wines that reflect the diverse terroirs of the region.

In 1994, Olivier expanded his operations by founding Domaine Olivier Leflaive, acquiring vineyards in prestigious appellations such as Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault, and Chassagne-Montrachet. The domaine emphasises sustainable viticulture practices and meticulous winemaking techniques to express the unique characteristics of each vineyard.

Today, Maison Olivier Leflaive manages approximately 100 hectares of vineyards, including 26 hectares owned by the estate, encompassing 82 climats with notable Grand Cru sites like Bâtard-Montrachet and Chevalier-Montrachet. The winery continues to be a family-run enterprise, with Olivier's daughter, Julie Leflaive, contributing to its ongoing legacy.
