Domaine Bizot

Domaine Bizot, located in Vosne-Romanée in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, was revitalised in the mid-1990s by Jean-Yves Bizot, a trained geologist and oenologist. Inheriting 2.5 hectares of family vineyards that had previously been leased out, Bizot began producing wines under his own label in 1995. He adopted a minimalist approach to viticulture and winemaking, emphasising organic practices and reducing the use of sulfur in the cellar.

Bizot's winemaking philosophy centres on expressing the purity of terroir. He employs whole-cluster fermentation in wooden vats at low temperatures and ages all wines in 100% new oak barrels. Bottling is done by hand, barrel by barrel, without filtration. The domaine's holdings include notable parcels such as Échézeaux Grand Cru, Vosne-Romanée Les Jachées, and Bourgogne Le Chapitre. Production is extremely limited, often totalling between 5,000 and 10,000 bottles annually.

Over time, Domaine Bizot has gained recognition for its distinctive wines that reflect both the character of their vineyard sites and Bizot's commitment to natural winemaking. The wines are known for their elegance, complexity, and ability to age gracefully, making them highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike.
