Domaine Armand Rousseau is a prestigious winery located in the Burgundy region of France. Armand Rousseau founded the estate in the early 20th century, and it has remained in the family ever since. The estate owns vineyards in some of the most famous appellations of Burgundy, including Chambertin, Gevrey-Chambertin, and Clos de la Roche.
Domaine Armand Rousseau was founded in the early 20th century by Armand Rousseau in Gevrey-Chambertin, in Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits. Initially owning small vineyard parcels, Rousseau expanded the estate by acquiring plots in prestigious appellations, including Charmes-Chambertin and Clos de la Roche, laying the groundwork for the domaine’s reputation.
In the 1930s, Armand Rousseau was among the first producers to bottle and sell his own wines directly, rather than through négociants, helping to establish the practice of estate bottling in Burgundy. After Armand’s passing in 1959, his son Charles Rousseau continued to grow the domaine, acquiring additional grand cru vineyards such as Clos de Bèze and Clos Saint-Jacques, and further refining the winemaking approach.
Today, Domaine Armand Rousseau is regarded as one of Burgundy’s leading producers of Pinot Noir, known for wines that emphasise balance, elegance, and a sense of place. Now managed by Eric Rousseau, the domaine maintains a commitment to traditional viticulture and winemaking, while incorporating selective modern practices to enhance quality and sustainability.
