Domaine René Engel was sold and was renamed to Domaine d’Eugenie. The last vintage released under the Domaine René Engel name was in 2004 and bottles under this old name are becoming increasingly rare and sought after.
The René Engel winery, which was located in the Burgundy region of France, no longer exists. After the death of its proprietor, Philippe Engel, in 2005, the estate was sold to Francois Pinault, the owner of Château Latour in Bordeaux. The vineyards were then incorporated into Domaine Eugénie,
