Placing a Maximum Bid
Use the "Set your bid limit" button on the left side of the bidding panel to enter the highest amount you're willing to bid on a lot. Our system will then automatically raise your bid in set increments if you’re outbid, up to your maximum. If someone bids above your set limit, we’ll notify you by email so you can choose whether to increase your bid.
Placing a Single Bid
Alternatively, place a single bid by selecting the button on the right side of the bidding panel. The button displays the amount needed for the next increment. For example, if the current highest bid is £50.00, the button will show "+ £5.00" (reflecting a £5.00 increment).

Viña Tondonia is an iconic Rioja wine - this wine was matured for 10 years in barrels- far exceeding the minimum Rioja Gran Reserva requirements.
A blend of 75% Tempranillo, 15% Garnacho, 10% Graciano and Mazuelo from R. López de Heredia's own vineyards.
Viña Tondonia 1981 Rioja Gran Reserva
From the northern Spanish DOC of Rioja, this wine is a blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha with small amounts of Graciano and Mazuelo, matured in oak barrels for 10 years.
An interesting note is that when the term \"Gran Reserva\" was defined in the 1970s, the owner of Viña Tondonia, Don Pedro López Heredia, objected on the grounds that the new terms were too lenient and so refused to use the new classifications on his labels.
This bottle is from the excellent 1981 vintage.

Wines labeled Gran Reserva must meet strict aging requirements: at least five years total aging, with a minimum of two years in oak barrels and three years in the bottle before release. These wines are typically produced only in exceptional vintages and from the finest grapes, often showcasing remarkable elegance, complexity, and longevity. Gran Reserva red wines are known for their refined structure, integrated oak, and layered flavors of dried fruit, spice, tobacco, and earth. White and rosé Gran Reservas also exist, requiring at least four years of aging, including six months in oak. The Gran Reserva DOCa label is a symbol of both patience and craftsmanship, representing the pinnacle of traditional Spanish winemaking.

Our monthly auctions end from 7:00 PM (UK local time) on the closing date. If a bid is placed after 7:00 PM on any lot, the entire auction will be extended by an additional two minutes.
The auction will end once all bidding has ceased for two minutes. Based on previous auction activity, the auction will continue for several hours and is most likely to finish between 9pm - 11pm (UK local time).
