Vietti is a distinguished family-owned winery in Piedmont, Italy, with origins dating to 1873. Renowned for terroir-driven Nebbiolo wines—including single-vineyard Barolos and Barbarescos—it also produces notable Barbera and Dolcetto under traditional and innovative practices.
Vietti was founded in the late 19th century by Carlo Vietti in Castiglione Falletto, Piedmont. His son Mario took over around 1917–1919, transitioning the family from general farming to winemaking and producing bottled wines under the Vietti name for the first time.
In the late 1950s, Luciana Vietti and her husband Alfredo Currado introduced significant innovations. They launched Rocche di Castiglione in 1961, one of Piedmont’s first Barolo cru wines, and in 1967 pioneered a pure Arneis bottling, helping revive the nearly extinct white varietal. In 1974, they began the iconic artist-designed labels that remain a hallmark of the estate.
Since the 1980s, management has passed to Luca Currado Vietti (with his wife Elena), who continued the blend of tradition and experimentation. In 2016, ownership transferred to the Krause family who expanded holdings in Barolo, Barbaresco, and Timorasso from Colli Tortonesi, preserving Vietti’s commitment to quality and site expression.
