Masseto

Founded in 1981, Masseto was originally part of Tenuta dell’Ornellaia but has since become an independent estate owned by the Frescobaldi family. The Frescobaldis gained full ownership of both Masseto and its sister estate Ornellaia in 2005. Masseto is a renowned Super-Tuscan, a single-vineyard 100% Merlot produced from a 7-hectare hillside parcel within the Tenuta dell’Ornellaia estate in Bolgheri, Tuscany. The 1987 vintage marked the first year the wine was officially released and sold under the Masseto name. Today the estate produces two different wines: the flagship Masseto and its second wine, Massetino.
