Ata Rangi which translates to "dawning sky" or "new beginning", was founded in 1980 by Clive Paton and is a small family-owned organic winery located in Martinborough in the larger Wairarapa region of New Zealand. The winery is highly regarded for and their Pinot Noir.
Pinot Noir is a red wine grape variety that is grown in many wine regions around the world, including Burgundy, France and the Willamette Valley in Oregon.
New Zealand is a wine producing country known for its high-quality Sauvignon Blanc wines as well as its Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Riesling varieties which are grown in regions such as Marlborough, Waipara, and Central Otago.
