Messias 1967 Colheita Port
Colheita Port is a single vintage-dated Tawny Port, similar to Vintage Port in that it is produced from the crop of a single exceptional year. However, while Vintage Ports spend only a brief 2 years in large oak vats and the majority of their ageing in bottle, Colheita Ports are matured exclusively in smaller oak barrels for a minimum of seven years- although it is not uncommon that they are aged for much longer, as many as 50 to 100 years.

Messias was founded in 1926 by Messias Baptista and has remained in the same families hands to this day. It is perhaps best known for it's Vintage and Colheita Ports, although also produces a variety of other still and sparkling wines. The company remains family-owned today.
