Sweet Scheurebe from the single vineyard, Kreuz, by the village of Oppenheim in the Rheinhessen wine-region just south-west of Frankfurt.
Auslese is a term used for a semi-sweet or sweet style of German wine, made from individually-selected bunches of very ripe grapes based on their ripeness level and sugar content, some of which have may have been affected by noble rot. The wines can also ben made and labelled as Auslese Trocken, which indicates a dry style.
Scheurebe is a white wine grape variety developed in Germany in 1916 by viticulturist Georg Scheu. A crossing of Riesling and an unknown wild vine, it is cultivated primarily in Germany and Austria.
