Château Mouton Rothschild 1945 Pauillac 1er-Cru

Despite being initially classified as a Second Growth estate in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, Baron Philippe de Rothschild successfully lobbied for its promotion to First Growth status in 1973, making it the only estate to have been elevated to this status.

The Château's labels are also known for featuring original artwork by famous artists, starting with this 1945 vintage. Artists like Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, and Andy Warhol have contributed to the label art over the years, making each vintage of Mouton Rothschild not only a masterpiece of winemaking but also a collector's item. 

1945 was the first of the artist's label series (except for the one-off in 1924) which features a \"V\" to represent the World War II victory of the allies.

The vineyards of Château Mouton-Rothschild are currently planted to 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot - a ratio to which their wine roughly follows with slight annual variation; Matured in 100% new French Oak barrels for 18-22 months.

Châ​teau Petrus 1942 Pomerol

Châ​teau Petrus is undisputedly the top wine estate in the Bordeaux right-bank appellation of Pomerol and rightly lays claim to being one of the most famous estates in the world of wine.  Unofficially recognised as a \"Premier Grand Cru\" (no such classification exists in Pomerol), Petrus is considered first-among-equals with the likes of Mouton- and Lafite-Rothschild in regards to both quality and iconic stature. As there is no second wine at Pétrus, where the declassified juice ends up is one of the wine world’s great mysteries.

Petrus is small estate of just 11.4 hectares (28 acres) and produces its single-varietal wine entirely from Merlot grapes. Prior to 2010, small amounts of Cabernet Franc were used in some vintages. The wines are aged in 100% new oak barrels for an average of 20 months.

Clos du Mesnil is a rare Champagne from a small, single vineyard of the same name and is only produced in the very best of years. 

Krug is a Champagne house founded by Joseph Krug in 1843. It is based principally in Reims, the main city in France's Champagne region and is one of the famous Champagne houses that formed part of the Grandes marques.

Krug is part of the wider Moët Hennessy group of companies. Although no longer owned by the Krugs, the family is still heavily involved with sixth-generation Olivier Krug Director of the House today.

Blanc-De-Blancs wines are made exclusively from white grapes- most commonly 100% Chardonnay.

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave 1978 Hermitage

Old-vine Syrah from the iconic northern Rhône Valley appellation of Hermitage; Matured in small oak barriques for approximately 18 months.

The Chaves estate can be traced back to 1481 making it one of the oldest in the northern Rhône. They are one of the largest landowners on the hill of Hermitage, with 9.3 hectares of organically-grown Syrah. There are a further 4 hectares of Hermitage dedicated to white grapes - Marsanne and Roussanne.

Hermitage or Ermitage is a small but world-renowned appellation located in the Northern Rhône, responsible for some of France's most prestigious red wines made from Syrah. Taylor's 1935 Vintage Port

An incredibly old 1935 Vintage Port from the renowned house of Taylor's.

Vintage Port is produced only in the most exceptional deemed years from a single harvest. The fermented wine is fortified before being aged for 2-3 years in massive oak vats which preserve the ripe fruit character. Upon bottling, the wines continue to age and can reward patient maturation for many decades. The decision to declare a vintage is made by the individual Port house. 

Taylor Fladgate & Yeatman, more commonly known as \"Taylor’s\" was founded in 1692 and is one of the largest, oldest and most well-known of all the founding Port houses with over three centuries of production.

Château Lafite Rothschild is an iconic first-growth property in Pauillac, North West of Bordeaux, France and is one of the most esteemed wine estates in the world. The first known recorded reference of Lafite dates all the way back to 1234 with vines first planted around the late 17th century by the Ségur family.

Lafite was listed as one of only four 1st Growths in the famed 1855 Classification of Medoc - though sister-estate Château Mouton-Rothschild gained promotion from 2nd (2eme Cru) to 1st-Growth in 1973.

Château Cheval Blanc 2011 Saint-Émilion 1er-Grand Cru 150cl

Classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé \"A\" and rightly considered an equal to the First Growth wines of the Medoc, Château Cheval Blanc is undisputedly the top wine estate in the appellation of Saint-Émilion. In 2021 Château Cheval Blanc voluntary withdrew from the official Saint-Émilion classification system as they did not agree with the new classification specifications.

Château Cheval Blanc 2011 Saint-Émilion 1er-Grand Cru 150cl

Classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé \"A\" and rightly considered an equal to the First Growth wines of the Medoc, Château Cheval Blanc is undisputedly the top wine estate in the appellation of Saint-Émilion. In 2021 Château Cheval Blanc voluntary withdrew from the official Saint-Émilion classification system as they did not agree with the new classification specifications.

Château Cheval Blanc is made from a fairly even blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc occasionally with a small portion of Cabernet Sauvignon; matured for approximately 18 months in 100% new French Oak barrels.

This is a 1.5 litre magnum bottle. Large-format bottles are great for extended ageing periods due to the wine's slower rate of maturation.

Placing a Maximum Bid

Our monthly auctions end from 7:00 PM (UK local time) on the closing date. If a bid is placed after 7:00 PM on any lot, the entire auction will be extended by an additional two minutes. 

The auction will end once all bidding has ceased for two minutes. Based on previous auction activity, the auction will continue for several hours and is most likely to finish between 9pm - 11pm (UK local time).
