Meerlust Merlot 2005 Stellenbosch

Merlot from South Africa's famed wine-region of Stellenbosch.

Established in 1756, the renowned Meerlust is a historic, family owned estate which has been managed by eight generations of the Myburgh family.  

Domaine Ponnelle 'Les Mazoyères' 1974 Charmes-Chambertin Grand-Cru

Pinot Noir from the Burgundian Grand Cru vineyard of Les Mazoyères within the appellation of Charmes-Chambertin.

The renowned Charmes-Chambertin Grand-Cru vineyard and appellation is located the Southern part of Gevrey-Chambertin within the Côte de Nuits subregion of Burgundy and can produce some of the world's most iconic wines. The appellation is permitted to produce only red wine from Pinot Noir grapes, although regulations allow up to 15% of the white wine grapes; Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc to be blended into the red wine, however this is rarley practised. 

Manfred Breit Piesporter Gunterslay Riesling Spatlese 1994 Mosel 3x75cl

Riesling from village of Piesport in Germany's famous Mosel river valley. 

Spätlese is the the lightest of the German late harvest wines, produced from slightly-late-harvested grapes and may be either sweet or dry. If “Trocken” is noted on the label you can assume it's a dry style.

Donatella Cinelli Colombini 2001 Brunello di Montalcino

100% Sangiovese from the Tuscan town of Montalcino; Classed as a riserva this wine must have been matured for a minimum of 6 years with at least 2 years in wood and 6 months in the bottle.

Brunello di Montalcino is one of the great under-appreciated wines of Italy.  100% Sangiovese which undergoes an extended period of pre-fermentation maceration to extract maximum colour, flavour and tannins which affords the wine its ability to mature for long periods.  Brunello di Montalcino must be aged in oak - commonly Slavonian oak - for a minimum of 2 years, though traditionally winemakers would age their Brunellos in oak for at least 3 years prior to release.

Domaine de la Motte Moelleux 1990 Coteaux du Layon Rochefort-sur-Loire 3x75cl

Sweet Chenin Blanc from the parish of Rochefort-sur-Loire in the Anjou commune of the Loire Valley appellation of Coteaux Du Layon.

The wines of Coteaux du Layon are made from grapes that are very ripe, sun-dried on the vine, or affected by the \"Noble Rot\", botrytis cinerea, which dehydrates the grapes to raisins, leaving only the sweet sugary pulp with which to make the sweet wine.

Melini 1967 Chianti 3x75cl

Chianti is a classic red wine from the heartland of Tuscany - one of Italy's iconic wine regions.

Many Chianti wines are made from 100% Sangiovese, however the region rules stipulate that the wines can be made from a minimum of 80% Sangiovese, with up to 20% of the final blend permitted to be constituted from a handful of other approved grape varieties such as Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah.

Domaine Soufrandise 'Clos Marie' 2020 Pouilly-Fuissé

Single vineyard, old vine Chardonnay from the Burgundian appellation of Pouilly-Fuissé: aged for 8-9 months in 70% steel vats and 30% oak barrels. 

The Pouilly-Fuissé appellation was created in 1936 and exclusively produces white wines from 100% Chardonnay, often with a clear oak influence. Not to be confused with Burgundy's Pouilly-Fumé which is Sauvignon Blanc based.

Marchesi di Barolo 1961 Barolo

Barolo, often referred to as the “king of wines”,  must always be made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes-, and matured for a minimum period of 38 months, 18 of which must be in oak barrels - (traditionally in large Slavonian oak casks).

Barolo wine comes from a traditional village of the same name located in the northern region of Piemonte. It is so revered that it was one of just three wines awarded DOCG status on the same day that the classification was introduced in July 1980. The region encompasses 11 villages in the heart of Piemonte, Most of the estates are small and family-owned, therefore production of wines from the Barolo DOCG is low.

Marchesi di Barolo was founded over two century's ago and is one of Italy's most iconic and historic wine estates. It was acquired in 1929 by winemaker Pietro Abbona and is today still owned by the Abbona Family.

Mouton-Cadet Baron Philippe de Rothschild 1976 Bordeaux

Frequently regarded as Baron Philippe de Rothschild's famous unofficial second-wine - beyond his Premier Grand Cru Classé estate, Château Mouton-Rothschild - Mouton-Cadet was created in 1930 to offer the richness of Bordeaux wines at an affordable cost to a wider audience.

Originally a blend of grapes from Baron Philippe's Mouton-Rothschild and Mouton-d'Armailhacq estates, the wine is composed of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, bottled under the regional Bordeaux appellation.

Château Doisy Daëne 2015 Barsac 2eme-Cru

From the Sauternes appellation, Château Doisy Daëne is one-third of the original estate Château Doisy which was ranked as a Second Growth Premier Cru (2eme-Cru) in Bordeaux' famed 1855 Classification of the Medoc.

The wines of Sauternes and Barsac are produced from a blend of Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and occasionally a small amount of Muscadelle, left on the vines until affected by the noble fungus, Botrytis Cinerea, which dehydrates the grapes to raisins, leaving only the sweet sugary pulp with which to make the one of the worlds most sought after sweet wines.

Minuto 'Classico' 1957 Barbaresco

DOC Barbaresco is one of the great - yet largely unsung - wines of Italy. Similar to it's more famous neighbour, Barolo; Barbaresco is made from Nebbiolo grapes and must be aged for a minimum of 26 months (at least 9 months in wooden barrels) prior to release.

Markus Molitor Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Spatlese 2014 Mosel

Sweet Riesling from the single vineyard of Zeltinger Sonnenuhr within Germany's famous Mosel wine region, which also includes the Saar and Ruwer tributaries.

Markus Molitor has been the owner of his family winery since 1984. The Molitor family has been producing wine in the Mosel for more than 8 generations. With the picturesque town of Bernkastel as a backdrop, they have fifteen steep sites along the Mosel river, devoted mostly to Riesling. Markus Molitor is widely regarded as a producer of exceptional quality wines.

The colour of the capsules on Markus Molitor wines represent a scale of dry to sweet: white is for dry, green is for off-dry and a gold cap for the sweet wines. The wines also carry a unique 1-3 star rating system, in which 3 stars are the rarest with highest quality.

Domaine Paul Blanck 'Furstentum' Vendanges Tardives Gewürztraminer 1989 Alsace Grand-Cru 3x37.5cl

Sweet, late harvest Gewürztraminer from the Grand Cru vineyard of Furstentum in the eastern French wine-region of Alsace.

The renowned Alsace wine region located in Eastern France, is home to aromatic white wines made from Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Sylvaner, Muscat d'Alsace and Pinot Gris. A small amount of red wine is also produced in the region, mostly from Pinot Noir grapes. The wines are permitted to be made in a dry or sweet style. The history of Alsace, flitting between French and German ownership for centuries, imparts itself within the region's wines - a cacophony of grapes native to both countries, ennobled and respected individually.

Melini 'Antico Vinsanto' Vin Santo Occhio di Pernice 2x72cl

Vin Santo is a traditional sweet wine produced throughout Italy mainly in the region of Tuscany.  Typically, the wine will be made from the white grapes of the Trebbiano and/or Malvasia varieties, dried on straw mats to concentrate the natural flavours and grape sugars, then pressed and partially fermented with moderate to high residual sugars.

Vin Santo Occhio di Pernice is made from the red wine grape Sangiovese made in the same style as Vin Santo and is aged for a minimum of 10 years in caratelli.

Domaine du Closel - Châteaudes Vaults 'Clos du Papillon' 2001 Savennières

Off-dry Chenin Blanc from the vineyards of Clos du Papillon, in the distinct Loire Valley appellation of Savennières, France. 

Though sweeter styles are permitted, Savennières typically produces dry white wines with the Chenin blanc grape from vineyards situated on the north bank of the river Loire.

Dow's 1984 LBV Port

1984 Late Bottled Vintage Port from the house of Dow's. Bottled in 1990.

Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) Port is a specific style of Ruby Port in which the fortified wine - from a single, specified vintage - is aged for an extended period of time before bottling. Unlike Vintage Ports, LBV Ports do not continue to mature in the bottle.

One of the great houses of Port- the name Dow has been associated with quality Port wine from the vineyards of the Upper Douro Valley for over two centuries.

Barolo, often referred to as \"The King Of Wines\" is always made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, as a Riserva classification, this wine was matured in oak for a minimum period of 62 months, including 18 months in wood- traditionally in large Slavonian oak casks.

Barolo wine comes from a traditional village of the same name located in the northern region of Piemonte. It is so revered that it was one of just three wines awarded DOCG status on the same day that the classification was introduced in July 1980. Donatella Cinelli Colombini 2005 Rosso di Montalcino

100% Sangiovese from the Tuscan town of Montalcino; aged for two years in cask and 6 months in bottle.

Established as a DOC in 1983, Rosso di Montalcino must be made from 100% Sangiovese (locally known as Sangioveto Grosso) and carries many similar characteristics of the great Brunello di Montalcino, except it is required to be matured for a lesser period of time in oak barrels- a minimum of 12 months.

M. Antoniolo 1971 Gattinara

Single vineyard 100% Spanna (aka Nebbiolo) from the northwestern Piedmont wine-region of Gattinara, Italy.

Antoniolo own 14 hectares in the crus of Osso San Grato, San Francesco and Castelle. The 3.5 hectare San Francesco vineyard is a west-facing slope behind the famed castle of Gattinara.

Domaine Cachat Ocquidant 'Les Madonnes' Vieille Vigne 2015 Ladoix

Old vine Pinot Noir from the Burgundian appellation of Ladoix, located in the north of the subregion of the Côte-de-Beaune: aged for 11 months in 40% new oak barrels. 

Moët & Chandon Petite Liquorelle Petillante circa 1980s 20cl

Petite Liquorelle was a short-lived experimental drink from Moët & Chandon, produced during the 1980s by blending their champagne with the distilled Marc de Champagne. Petite Liquorelle failed to find commercial success and was discontinued in the early 1990s.

Marc de Champagne is a colourless spirit, also referred to as a grappa, brandy or cognac, made in the Champagne region of France. It is produced from pressing the skins, seeds and pulp of the grapes left over from wine production rather than the juice.

Established in 1743 by Claude Moët, the world famous Moet & Chandon continues to be one of the world's largest champagne producers and most sought-after Champagne brands in the world.

Domaine Chanzy Clos De La Fortune 2002 Bouzeron

Bouzeron is produced from the grape variety Aligoté, and Bouzeron AOC is the only communal-level Burgundy appellation for Aligoté-based wines. The AOC regulations require 100% Aligoté for Bouzeron.

Domaine Chanzy has a historic presence in Bouzeron, and owns and operates an 80-hectare vineyard spread over the three Burgundy principal regions.

Domaine De La Trappe was purchased in 1904 by the Borgeaud family. 

Note- this is no vintage date noted. We estimate this to be circa 1930s or earlier. 

We are unable to confirm if this is a sweet or dry wine, due to the good clarity and it's age we assume this is sweet. 

Marqués de Murrieta Ygay 1999 Rioja Crianza / 150 Aniversario

Tempranillo dominant blend from the famed Rioja region in northern Spain.

Rioja is arguably Spain's top wine region and is one of only two regions classified under the Denominación de Origen Calificada (DOCa) system. Other than Tempranillo and Garnacha, Graciano and Mazuelo (Carignan) are also used in the red wines of Rioja. 

Marqués de Murrieta is the oldest family winery based in Rioja, concentrating exclusively on the production of premium Reserva and Gran Reserva wines since 1852.

Mastrojanni 1996 Brunello di Montalcino
