Domaine Jamet 'Equivoque' 2016 Côtes-du-Rhône

Côtes-du-Rhône is one of the regional appellations in France's Rhône Valley. The wines are typically made up of a Grenache and/or Syrah dominant blend along with: Mourvèdre, Carignan, Cinsaut and seven other permitted grapes.

Duval-Leroy 'Cuvee Sur-Mesure' Mere 2014 Vintage Champagne

2014 vintage extra-brut Champagne from the House of Duval Leroy; using grapes sourced exclusively from grand cru villages. 

Duval Leroy is a small, family-owned, independent Champagne house founded in 1859. It is located in the Premier Cru village of the Côte des Blancs and produces both vintage and non-vintage Champagne as well as a line of organic wines. The house of Duval-Leroy is known for its pioneering role in promoting sustainable and organic practices and recently announced that its entire range is now 100% vegan friendly.

Domaine Vincent Dureuil-Janthial 2018 Rully

Pinot Noir from the Burgundian appellation of Rully: aged for 12 months in 33% new oak barrels. 

This wine comes from vines planted in 1974 and 1978.

Domaine les Sadons 2016 Pauillac

From the famed Pauillac appellation. The wine is typically a blend of approximately 50-70% Cabernet Sauvignon blended with Merlot; Matured in French Oak barrels for approximately 18 months.

The renowned Alsace wine region located in Eastern France, is home to aromatic white wines made from Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Sylvaner, Muscat d'Alsace and Pinot Gris. A small amount of red wine is also produced in the region, mostly from Pinot Noir grapes. The wines are permitted to be made in a dry or sweet style. The history of Alsace, flitting between French and German ownership for centuries, imparts itself within the region's wines - a cacophony of grapes native to both countries, ennobled and respected individually.

Dehours 'Œil de Perdrix' Extra Brut NV Champagne / 2022

Non-Champagne from the house of Dehours. Based around the 2019 vintage and disgorged in January 2022.

The famed Champagne Wine Region located in the north east of France is renowned for producing the world's most celebrated sparkling wine. Champagne is typically made from one or a combination of the three predominant grape varieties, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, although there are four other lesser-known grape varieties that are permitted to be included: Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Petit Meslier and Arbane.

Dow's 'Quinta do Bomfim' 'Centenary' 1996 Vintage Port

A 1996 vintage single-estate Vintage Port from Dow's vineyards at Quinta Do Bomfim. Bottled in 1998, released to mark their Centenary in 1996.

Vintage Port is produced only in the most exceptional deemed years from a single harvest. The fermented wine is fortified before being aged for 2-3 years in massive oak vats which preserve the ripe fruit character. Upon bottling, the wines continue to age and can reward patient maturation for many decades. The decision to declare a vintage is made by the individual Port house.

One of the great houses of Port- the name Dow has been associated with quality Port wine from the vineyards of the Upper Douro Valley for over two centuries.

Domaine Ponnelle 'Les Mazoyères' 1974 Charmes-Chambertin Grand-Cru

Pinot Noir from the Burgundian Grand Cru vineyard of Les Mazoyères within the appellation of Charmes-Chambertin.

The renowned Charmes-Chambertin Grand-Cru vineyard and appellation is located the Southern part of Gevrey-Chambertin within the Côte de Nuits subregion of Burgundy and can produce some of the world's most iconic wines. The appellation is permitted to produce only red wine from Pinot Noir grapes, although regulations allow up to 15% of the white wine grapes; Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc to be blended into the red wine, however this is rarley practised.

Auslese is a term used for a semi-sweet or sweet style of German wine, made from individually-selected bunches of very ripe grapes based on their ripeness level and sugar content, some of which have may have been affected by noble rot. The wines can also ben made and labelled as Auslese Trocken, which indicates a dry style.

Assorted Rioja Reserva 3x75cl

Tempranillo dominant red wine from the famed Rioja region in northern Spain; Classified as a Reserva, this wine was matured for a minimum period of 36 months including 12 months in oak barrels.

This lot contains the following;

• Bodegas Riojanas 'Vina Albina' 1989 Rioja Reserva 12%
• Bodegas Berberana 1988 Rioja Reserve 12.5%
• Juan Ramon Madris 'Reserva de Familia' 1995 Rioja Reserva 13%

Rioja is arguably Spain's top wine region and is one of only two regions classified under the Denominación de Origen Calificada (DOCa) system. Other than Tempranillo and Garnacha, Graciano and Mazuelo (Carignan) are also used in the red wines of Rioja.

Donatella Cinelli Colombini 2001 Brunello di Montalcino

100% Sangiovese from the Tuscan town of Montalcino; Classed as a riserva this wine must have been matured for a minimum of 6 years with at least 2 years in wood and 6 months in the bottle.

Brunello di Montalcino is one of the great under-appreciated wines of Italy.  100% Sangiovese which undergoes an extended period of pre-fermentation maceration to extract maximum colour, flavour and tannins which affords the wine its ability to mature for long periods.  Brunello di Montalcino must be aged in oak - commonly Slavonian oak - for a minimum of 2 years, though traditionally winemakers would age their Brunellos in oak for at least 3 years prior to release.

Domaine de la Motte Moelleux 1990 Coteaux du Layon Rochefort-sur-Loire 3x75cl

Sweet Chenin Blanc from the parish of Rochefort-sur-Loire in the Anjou commune of the Loire Valley appellation of Coteaux Du Layon.

The wines of Coteaux du Layon are made from grapes that are very ripe, sun-dried on the vine, or affected by the \"Noble Rot\", botrytis cinerea, which dehydrates the grapes to raisins, leaving only the sweet sugary pulp with which to make the sweet wine.

Arione 1979 Barolo

Barolo, often referred to as the “king of wines”,  must always be made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, and matured for a minimum period of 38 months, 18 of which must be in oak barrels - (traditionally in large Slavonian oak casks).

Barolo wine comes from a traditional village of the same name located in the northern region of Piemonte. It is so revered that it was one of just three wines awarded DOCG status on the same day that the classification was introduced in July 1980. The region encompasses 11 villages in the heart of Piemonte, Most of the estates are small and family-owned, therefore production of wines from the Barolo DOCG is low.

Domaine Soufrandise 'Clos Marie' 2020 Pouilly-Fuissé

Single vineyard, old vine Chardonnay from the Burgundian appellation of Pouilly-Fuissé: aged for 8-9 months in 70% steel vats and 30% oak barrels. 

The Pouilly-Fuissé appellation was created in 1936 and exclusively produces white wines from 100% Chardonnay, often with a clear oak influence. Not to be confused with Burgundy's Pouilly-Fumé which is Sauvignon Blanc based.

Abbazia S. Gaudenzio 1961 Barolo

Barolo, often referred to as the “king of wines”,  must always be made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, and matured for a minimum period of 38 months, 18 of which must be in oak barrels - (traditionally in large Slavonian oak casks).

Barolo wine comes from a traditional village of the same name located in the northern region of Piemonte. It is so revered that it was one of just three wines awarded DOCG status on the same day that the classification was introduced in July 1980. The region encompasses 11 villages in the heart of Piemonte, Most of the estates are small and family-owned, therefore production of wines from the Barolo DOCG is low.

Alvear Pedro Ximenez Dulce Viejo 1927 Montilla-Moriles

This sweet wine from the mountainous region of Montilla Moriles, located in northern Andalusia, Spain, is made in much the same styles and processes as Sherry, though unlike sherry it is not fortified. 100% Pedro Ximénez grapes are dried in the sun, then left to age in a tradition system of soleras and criaderas.

Château Doisy Daëne 2015 Barsac 2eme-Cru

From the Sauternes appellation, Château Doisy Daëne is one-third of the original estate Château Doisy which was ranked as a Second Growth Premier Cru (2eme-Cru) in Bordeaux' famed 1855 Classification of the Medoc.

The wines of Sauternes and Barsac are produced from a blend of Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and occasionally a small amount of Muscadelle, left on the vines until affected by the noble fungus, Botrytis Cinerea, which dehydrates the grapes to raisins, leaving only the sweet sugary pulp with which to make the one of the worlds most sought after sweet wines.

Albert Bichot 2014 Pouilly-Fuisse

Chardonnay from the Burgundian appellation of Pouilly-Fuissé: aged for 8-9 months in 70% steel vats and 30% oak barrels.

Della Porta Rossa 1979 Barolo Riserva Speciale

Domaine Paul Blanck 'Furstentum' Vendanges Tardives Gewürztraminer 1989 Alsace Grand-Cru 3x37.5cl

Sweet, late harvest Gewürztraminer from the Grand Cru vineyard of Furstentum in the eastern French wine-region of Alsace.

De Forville 1973 Barbaresco 2x75cl

DOC Barbaresco is one of the great - yet largely unsung - wines of Italy.  Similar to it's more famous neighbour, Barolo; Barbaresco is made from Nebbiolo grapes and must be aged for a minimum of 26 months (at least 9 months in wooden barrels) prior to release.

Domaine du Closel - Châteaudes Vaults 'Clos du Papillon' 2001 Savennières

Off-dry Chenin Blanc from the vineyards of Clos du Papillon, in the distinct Loire Valley appellation of Savennières, France. 

Though sweeter styles are permitted, Savennières typically produces dry white wines with the Chenin blanc grape from vineyards situated on the north bank of the river Loire.

Dow's 1984 LBV Port

1984 Late Bottled Vintage Port from the house of Dow's. Bottled in 1990.

Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) Port is a specific style of Ruby Port in which the fortified wine - from a single, specified vintage - is aged for an extended period of time before bottling. Unlike Vintage Ports, LBV Ports do not continue to mature in the bottle.

This lot contains one each of the following;

• Grahams 20 Year Old Tawny Port 50cl / Bottled in 2005
• Dow's 10 Year Old Tawny Port 37.5cl / Bottled in 1994

Tawny Port is a particular style of Port in which the fortified wines are aged for a number of years in small oak casks. This process of deliberate and careful oxidative maturation imparts typical characteristics of stewed fruits, nuts and leather. The wines do not age or improve further upon bottling.

Denegri Lorenzo 'La Morra' 1964 Barolo 2x72cl

Barolo wine comes from a traditional village of the same name located in the northern region of Piemonte. Barolo, often referred to as \"The King Of Wines\" is always made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, as a Riserva classification, this wine was matured in oak for a minimum period of 62 months, including 18 months in wood- traditionally in large Slavonian oak casks.

It is so revered that it was one of just three wines awarded DOCG status on the same day that the classification was introduced in July 1980. Donatella Cinelli Colombini 2005 Rosso di Montalcino

100% Sangiovese from the Tuscan town of Montalcino; aged for two years in cask and 6 months in bottle.

Established as a DOC in 1983, Rosso di Montalcino must be made from 100% Sangiovese (locally known as Sangioveto Grosso) and carries many similar characteristics of the great Brunello di Montalcino, except it is required to be matured for a lesser period of time in oak barrels- a minimum of 12 months. 

Dominique Laurent 'Vieilles Vignes' 2014 Marsannay
