Krug Champagne is a Champagne house founded by Joseph Krug in 1843. It is based principally in Reims, the main city in France's Champagne region and is one of the famous houses that formed part of the Grandes marques.
Champagne Krug was established in 1843 by Joseph Krug in Reims, France, with the aim of producing Champagne that reflected a refined and consistent style. From its inception, the house emphasised the art of blending, sourcing wines from multiple vintages and vineyards to create a product that could evolve over time while maintaining its unique character.
Over the years, Krug has developed a reputation for its methodical approach to winemaking. The house’s signature non-vintage wine, Krug Grande Cuvée, is a result of blending over a hundred wines from more than a dozen vintages, demonstrating a commitment to complexity and balance. In addition, Krug has expanded its portfolio with notable expressions such as Krug Vintage, Krug Rosé, and single-vineyard Champagnes like Krug Clos du Mesnil and Krug Clos d'Ambonnay, each reflecting the distinct qualities of their respective terroirs.
Today, Champagne Krug continues to honour its founding principles by combining traditional techniques with careful innovation. The estate remains dedicated to the practice of extended ageing and meticulous blending, ensuring that each wine, from its flagship Grande Cuvée to its specialised single-vineyard offerings, accurately expresses the character of the Champagne region. This commitment to quality and consistency has solidified Krug’s position as a respected producer in the world of Champagne.
