Ice wine is a particularly decadent style of sweet wine, in which the grapes are left of their vines for an extended period of time, well into the winter, and are only picked - by hand and in the middle of the night - after a suitable period of constant cold temperatures. The water content within the grapes thus freezes and the grapes are carefully pressed shortly after picking to draw only the sweet sugary pulp.
Vidal is a hybrid wine grape variety that was developed in France and is now widely grown in the United States, particularly in the colder wine regions of the East Coast and the Great Lakes region.
Canada is a rapidly-growing wine-producing country, known for its crisp, refreshing whites and bold, fruity reds.
VQA (Vintners Quality Alliance) is a regulatory and appellation system in Canada that ensures wine quality and origin, primarily in Ontario and British Columbia. Wines labelled VQA must meet strict standards for grape variety, geographic origin, and production methods.
