Wine Auctioneer takes pride in the quality of service we offer to all of our customers.  If for any reason you are unhappy with the authenticity or provenance of items purchased please contact us immediately within 7 working days of the receipt of your items. Please note that the Consumer Protection [Distance Selling] Regulations 2000 do not apply to items sold by auction and are therefore not applicable to any items purchased via the Wine Auctioneer Website.

Items offered for sale may contain damage in the form of rips, scratches, tears, rust, dents and more on bottles and boxes.  We attempt to highlight this damage within the lot description.  However if a cause for concern is not mentioned, but is clearly visible within the images displayed on the lot page to our customers, the buyer of the lot will be deemed to have seen this damage and has no claim or right to a refund.

Although we strive to ensure that you receive your item in perfect condition, due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, condition of liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against failure/leakage in transit.

Loss and Breakage Assurance

In order to lower risks associated with transporting winning lots, Wine Auctioneer recommends that you collect your lots directly from our premises in Perth, Scotland. Should this not be possible or you prefer to have your lots shipped to you, then liability for both loss and damage rests with the purchaser.

While our team takes every effort to package and dispatch orders carefully and securely, the Courier Companies do not take on any liability for items lost or broken in transit. To address this, Wine Auctioneer offers our customers ‘Loss & Breakage Assurance' in order to provide a method to cover items lost or broken in transit (cost is 3% of Hammer Price + Commission.). By purchasing ‘Loss & Breakage Assurance' when checking out, your lots will be protected against loss or breakage in transit.

Please note that Loss & Breakage Assurance provides cover for breakage and loss during transit only – Loss & Breakage Assurance does not cover any loss arising from an item’s condition. Therefore, it will not protect against seal failures or cosmetic damage to lots. Please see our buying page for more information.
