Fontanafredda 1956 Barolo

Barolo, often referred to as the “king of wines”,  must always be made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes-, and matured for a minimum period of 38 months, 18 of which must be in oak barrels - (traditionally in large Slavonian oak casks).

Barolo wine comes from a traditional village of the same name located in the northern region of Piemonte. It is so revered that it was one of just three wines awarded DOCG status on the same day that the classification was introduced in July 1980. The region encompasses 11 villages in the heart of Piemonte, Most of the estates are small and family-owned, therefore production of wines from the Barolo DOCG is low.

Fontanafredda was founded in 1858 by the country’s first king, Vittorio Emanuele II. He purchased the estate in the Langhe region where he started producing wine from native varietals; Dolcetto, Barbera and Nebbiolo.

Sérafin Père & Fils 'Les Millandes' 2009 Morey-St-Denis 1er-Cru

Pinot Noir from the Premier Cru vineyard of Les Millandes in the Burgundian appellation of Morey-Saint-Denis.

Les Millandes is one of the largest Premier Cru vineyards in central Morey-Saint-Denis and is planted entirley with Pinot Noir. 

Sandeman 1970 Vintage Port

A 1970 vintage Port from renowned producer, Sandeman. Bottled in 1972.

The famous House of Sandeman was created in 1790 by Scotsman, George Sandeman and has continuously been making and shipping ports around the world for more than 200 years. Their famous logo featuring a caped man named \"The Don\" makes this the most well known brand of port in the world.

Ferreira 'Quinta do Rodo' 20 Year Old Port / Bottled 1965

A 20 year old Tawny Port from the house of Ferreira. Bottled in 1965.

Tawny Port is a particular style of Port in which the fortified wines are aged for a number of years in small oak casks.  This process of deliberate and careful oxidative maturation imparts typical characteristics of stewed fruits, nuts and leather. Tawny port are non-vintage wines which come in various styles, primarily recognised by the length of time the wine has been aged. The wines do not age or improve further upon bottling.

San Felice \"Il Grigio\" 1969 Chianti Classico Riserva 6x75cl

Sangiovese dominant blend from the iconic wine-region of Chianti in the heart of Tuscany.

Chianti Classico wines must contain a minimum of 80% of Sangiovese. The remainder can be made from native grapes such as Canaiolo or Colorino, as well as international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Wines made only from Sangiovese have been permitted since 1996.

Classed as a Chianti Classico Riserva, this wine must have been aged for a minimum of 24 months including 3 months of bottle ageing.

Smith Woodhouse & Co. 1974 LBV Port

1974 Late Bottled Vintage from the renowned house of Taylor's. Bottled in 1978.

Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) Port is a specific style of Ruby Port in which the fortified wine - from a single, specified vintage - is aged for an extended period of time before bottling. Unlike Vintage Ports, LBV Ports do not continue to mature in the bottle.

Schubert Maximin Grünhäuser 'Abtsberg' Riesling Spatlese 1983 Mosel

Sweet Riesling from the single vineyard, Herrenberg, by the commune of Maximin Grunhaus in the outskirts of Mertesdorf on the southern bank of the famous Mosel river.

Spätlese is the the lightest of the German late harvest wines, produced from slightly-late-harvested grapes and may be either sweet or dry. If “Trocken” is noted on the label you can assume it's a dry style.

Signae 2008 Sagrantino di Montefalco 2x75cl

Red wine made from 100% Sagrantino grapes from the town of Montefalco, in the Umbria region of central Italy; matured for 24 months in French oak barriques followed by 8 months bottle ageing prior to release. 

The appellation of Sagrantino di Montefalco is know from 2009 as Montefalco Sagrantino.

Smith Woodhouse & Co. 1977 Vintage Port

The small Port house of Smith Woodhouse & Co. was founded in 1784 by Christopher Smith M.P. and Lord Mayor of London. Their small 5-hectare vineyard is located in the heart of the sheltered Rio Torto Valley. Today the company is part of the Symington family of ports who also own iconic port houses such as; Graham's, Cockburn's, Dow's and Warre's & co.

Fattoria Dei Barbi 2005 Brunello di Montalcino

100% Sangiovese from the Tuscan town of Montalcino.

Brunello di Montalcino is one of the great under-appreciated wines of Italy. The wine must be made from 100% Sangiovese which undergoes an extended period of pre-fermentation maceration to extract maximum colour, flavour and tannins which affords the wine its ability to mature for long periods.  Brunello di Montalcino must be aged in oak - commonly Slavonian oak - for a minimum of 2 years, though traditionally winemakers would age their Brunellos in oak for at least 3 years before release.

Fernand & Laurent Pillot 2014 Volnay

Pinot Noir from the iconic Burgundian appellation of Volnay.

The Volnay AOC was created in 1937 and is a located in the Côte de Beaune subregion of Burgundy's Côte d'Or.  The appellation applies to red wine made from Pinot Noir although up to 15% of the white wine grape Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris are permitted in the blends- although this is rarely utilised by producers. Almost 30 Premier Cru vineyards can be found within Volnay.
