Krug 'Private Cuvée' Extra Sec 1955 Vintage Champagne

An incredibly old 1955 vintage champagne from the renowned house of Krug.

Krug is part of the wider Moët Hennessy group of companies. While the house is headquartered in Reims, a new winery is being developed at the Clos d'Ambonnay site and is due to open in 2023. Although no longer owned by the Krugs, the family is still heavily involved with sixth-generation Olivier Krug Director of the House today.

Henschke 'Hill Of Grace' 1995 Eden Valley

Iconic single-vineyard, seriously old-vine (100+ years) Shiraz from Australia's Eden Valley, located just north of Adelaide.

The first Hill of Grace Shiraz was created in 1958 from the pre-phylloxera vines at the Hill of Grace vineyard which was planted around 1860. The wine is typically matured for 18-21 months in new French and American hogsheads. 

1868 marked the first recorded sale of Henschke wine. The historic estate has been family-owned for over 156 years with the sixth generation currently at the helm.

Kanonkop 'Paul Sauer' 2015 Stellenbosch 150cl

Cabernet Sauvignon dominant blend from South Africa's renowned Stellenbosch wine-region; Matured for 24 months in new 225 litre French oak nevers.

Named after Paul Sauer, who was elected to Parliament in the same year that he became owner of Kanonkop. 

This 2015 vintage Paul Sauer marked South Africa's first 100-point wine which was awarded by Tim Atkin. A blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc.

This is a 1.5 litre magnum bottle. Large-format bottles are great for extended ageing periods due to the wine's slower rate of maturation.

Nicolas Potel 1999 Romanée Saint-Vivant Grand Cru

Burgundian Pinot Noir from the exceptional Grand Cru vineyard and appellation of Romanée-Saint-Vivant in the Côte de Nuits sub-region.

In 2008 the Nicolas Potel estate and name were sold to Cottin Freres (owner of Laboure-Roi). Potel now sells his wines under the names Domaine de Bellene and a négociant  label Maison Roche de Bellene.

Nicolas Potel 1999 Romanée Saint-Vivant Grand Cru

Burgundian Pinot Noir from the exceptional Grand Cru vineyard and appellation of Romanée-Saint-Vivant in the Côte de Nuits sub-region.

In 2008 the Nicolas Potel estate and name were sold to Cottin Freres (owner of Laboure-Roi). Potel now sells his wines under the names Domaine de Bellene and a négociant  label Maison Roche de Bellene.

Niepoort 1977 Vintage Port​ 2x75cl

1977 vintage port from the renowned Niepoort Port House. Bottled in 1979.

Vintage Port is produced only in the most exceptional deemed years from a single harvest. The fermented wine is fortified before being aged for 2-3 years in massive oak vats which preserve the ripe fruit character. Upon bottling, the wines continue to age and can reward patient maturation for many decades. The decision to declare a vintage is made by the individual Port house.

This 169ème Édition is made from a blend of 146 wines from 11 different years, the youngest of which is from 2013, while the oldest dates back to 2000. Matured for around 7 years prior to being disgorged. 

The renowned Champagne house of Krug was founded by Johann-Joseph Krug in 1843 and has since been in the hands of the family for six generations.

Krohn 1957 Colheita Port / Bottled 1978

1957 Colheita Port from the house of Krohn. Bottled in 1978.

Colheita Port is a single vintage-dated Tawny Port. It is similar to Vintage Port in that it is produced from the crop of a single exceptional year.  However, while Vintage Ports spend only a brief 2 years in large oak vats and the majority of their ageing in bottle, Colheita Ports are matured exclusively in smaller oak barrels for a minimum of seven years- although it is not uncommon that they are aged for much longer, as many as 50 to 100 years. 

Krohn Port House was founded in 1865 by two Norwegian cousins. Over the following 150 years, the firm built up an outstanding reputation for its cask-aged Ports, in particular its colheitas and single harvest tawnies. Today the port house produces a full range from White Port, Ruby, Vintage, Late Bottled Vintage, Tawny to old Colheitas.

First created in 1843, Grande Cuvée is the flagship release from Krug, re-created every year, regardless of annual climate variations. Krug Grande Cuvée is a blend of over 120 different wines from more than 10 different years.

Nicolas Potel 2005 Volnay 3x75cl

Pinot Noir from the classic Burgundian appellation of Volnay.

The Volnay AOC was created in 1937 and is a located in the Côte de Beaune subregion of Burgundy's Côte d'Or.  The appellation applies to red wine made from Pinot Noir although up to 15% of the white wine grape Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris are permitted in the blends- although this is rarely utilised by producers. Almost 30 Premier Cru vineyards can be found within Volnay.

Nicolás Catena Zapata 2006 Mendoza

A blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Malbec from Catena's extreme high-altitude vineyards within Mendoza, Argentina: aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. 

H. Weinz Armsheim 'Armsheimer Adelberg' Trockenbeerenauslese 1976 Rheinhessen

Very sweet white wine likely made from a Silvaner domiannt blend from Germany's Rheinhessen wine-region, located south of Frankfurt.

Trockenbeerenauslese, or TBA for short, translates to \"dry berry selection\". These rare wines are made from hand-picked individually selected fully ripe or overripe grapes, which the best are infested by noble rot. It is the absolute sweetest style of German wine and an utterly rare delight.

Klein Constantia 1998 Vin de Constance 50cl

A renowned naturally super-sweet dessert wine from the Constantia wine-region of South Africa. Made made from 100% vine-dried muscat de Frontignan. Aged for 3 years in a combination of 50% new oak and acacia barrels, as well as large format foudres.

The approach used to create Vin de Constance is unique to Klein Constantia, tailored from historic information used to make the iconic sweet wines of Constantia in the 1700’s. From these records they have recreated a style of Muscat de Frontignan involving numerous winemaking techniques in order to create this sweet wine. 

Nyetimber 'Blanc-de-Blancs' 1992 English Sparkling

From the renowned Nyetimber estate located in the English county of West Sussex, this 1992 vintage sparkling wine has been made in the style - and same, traditional process- of Champagne, from France.

Of all non-Champagne sparkling wines, many of those produced in the south of England come closest in terms of style and quality.  With similarities in soils and climates, grape varieties (Chardonnay and Pinot Noir) which grow well, and method of production, it is natural that flavour will follow also.

Blanc-de-Blancs wines are made exclusively from white grapes- most commonly 100% Chardonnay.

Kloster Eberbach 'Rauenthaler Gehrn' Riesling Cabinet 1966 Rheingau

Semi-sweet Riesling from the single vineyard of Rauenthaler Baiken in the Rheingau region of west-central Germany.

Kabinett (Cabinet) is the lightest style of German wine. It is made from grapes which were picked at full ripeness (but not late-harvested) and the style typically ranges from dry to off-dry with well balanced residual sweetness and acidity.

Nyetimber 'Classic Cuvee' 2010 English Sparkling 150cl

2010 vintage sparkling from the renowned Nyetimber estate in the English county of West Sussex, made in the style - and same, traditional process- of Champagne, from France.

Classic Cuvee is made from a blend of 55-65% Chardonnay, 30-40% Pinot Noir and 5-15% Pinot Meunier and includes 20-35% reserve wines. Produced from estate grown grapes from West Sussex & Hampshire.
