Petite Arvine is a white wine grape variety that is indigenous to the Valais region of Switzerland. It is known for producing highly aromatic wines with bright acidity and a distinctive minerality, and is often used in the production of white wine blends in its native Valais region.
The vineyards that produce Petite Arvine wines are typically located at high altitudes, providing the grapes with ideal growing conditions for producing high-quality wines. As such, it is most commonly found in Switzerland and also in smaller quantities in the neighboring regions of Aosta Valley in Italy and Savoie in France.
Although almost all of the Petite Arvine under vine is in Switzerland and Italy, some small cultivation also takes place in the United States and Canada.
Petite Arvine grapes are known for producing crisp, fresh white wines with high acidity and a bright, zesty character. The wine is noted for its citrus flavours of lemon and grapefruit, and green apple with hints of white flowers, minerals, and a touch of honey.
The wine is also known for its balanced and harmonious nature, with a clean and refreshing finish. Petite Arvine wine is often described as having a unique combination of richness and elegance, with a creamy, round mouthfeel.
