Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is a large country located in Central Asia, with a winemaking tradition that dates back over 2,000 years. Although its primary alcoholic beverage production in vodka, the country's wine industry is being revived following Soviet era neglect. Winemakers there are focusing on producing high-quality wines using imported grape varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, and traditional Kazakh grapes, such as Bayan Shirey and Sultana.
