From the appellation of Pessac-Léognan (originally Graves before 1987), Château Haut-Brion is one of the great Bordeaux wine estates, listed as one of only five 1st Growth (Premier Grand Cru Classé) in the famed 1855 Classification of Médoc.  It is widely regarded as one of the oldest and most prestigious wine-producing properties in the region, with a history dating back to the late 16th century.
