Weingut Keller

Weingut Keller is a renowned family-owned winery in Rheinhessen, Germany, known for its exceptional dry Rieslings and Spätburgunders. Led by Klaus-Peter Keller, the estate emphasises low yields and terroir expression, with top vineyards like Morstein and Abtserde.

History

Weingut Keller, situated in Flörsheim-Dalsheim in Germany's Rheinhessen region, traces its origins to 1789 when Johann Leonhard Keller emigrated from Switzerland and acquired the Dalsheimer Oberer Hubacker vineyard. This parcel, historically owned by a monastery, remains central to the estate's identity and is predominantly planted with Riesling.

In 2001, Klaus-Peter Keller, representing the ninth generation of the family, assumed leadership of the estate. Drawing from his studies at Geisenheim University and experiences at esteemed Burgundy domaines, he introduced meticulous viticultural practices and a focus on expressing terroir. Under his guidance, Weingut Keller revitalised the reputation of Rheinhessen, particularly the Hügelland area, through the production of acclaimed dry Rieslings from vineyards like Morstein, Kirchspiel, and Abtserde.

Today, Weingut Keller encompasses approximately 18 hectares, with 15 hectares classified as Grosse Lage. The estate is renowned for its commitment to sustainable viticulture and minimal intervention winemaking, allowing the unique characteristics of each vineyard to be fully expressed. Notably, their G-Max Riesling, sourced from a confidential site, has garnered attention for its quality and exclusivity.
