Domaine Serene is a premium winery in Oregon's Dundee Hills, founded in 1989 by Grace and Ken Evenstad. Known for its Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, it emphasises estate-grown fruit and precision winemaking and also owns Château de la Crée in Burgundy, France.

History

Domaine Serene, located in Oregon's Dundee Hills was founded in 1989 by Grace and Ken Evenstad. Their vision was to produce world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, inspired by their passion for Burgundy wines. They began by purchasing a 42-acre property which they developed into a vineyard and winery. Their inaugural wine, the 1990 Reserve, received a 90-point rating from critic Robert Parker Jr., signalling the estate's potential. In 1993 they planted their first vineyard, the Mark Bradford Vineyard, named after their son. Despite initial skepticism about the site's elevation and western exposure, it has become one of their premier Pinot Noir vineyards.

Over the years Domaine Serene expanded its operations, constructing a state-of-the-art, gravity-flow Pinot Noir winery in 2001. A decade later they built Oregon's first winery dedicated solely to white wines, focusing on Chardonnay and sparkling wine production. The estate now encompasses multiple vineyards and has received numerous accolades. Notably at the 2020 Decanter World Wine Awards where their 2016 Mark Bradford Vineyard Pinot Noir was awarded 'Best in Show,' and the winery received a total of 23 medals, making it the most awarded winery at the event.

In 2015 the Evenstads expanded internationally by acquiring Château de la Crée in Burgundy, France, becoming the first Oregon vintners to own land and produce wine in Burgundy. This move was followed by the acquisition of Domaine Christian Confuron & Fils in 2021, further increasing their holdings in the Côte d'Or region. These expansions reflect their commitment to producing high-quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, both in Oregon and Burgundy.
