Château Batailley 2001 Pauillac 5eme-Cru
From the Pauillac appellation, Château Batailley was recognised as a 5th Growth (5eme Cru) estate in the 1855 Classification of the Medoc.
Château Batailley is one of the oldest estates in Bordeaux, dating back to the 15th century. In 1942 Chateau Batailley was divided into two separate properties that we know today. Chateau Batailley and Chateau Haut Batailley. The name Batailley is said to come from a battle that was fought in the ground of the chateau during the Hundred Year War.
Classic Cabernet Sauvignon dominant, left-bank Bordeaux-blend; Matured in French Oak barrels (55% new) for approximately 16-18 months.
