Chateau Latour 1940 Pauillac Premier-Cru
Classic left-bank Bordeaux-blend with a very high dominance of old-vine Cabernet Sauvignon; Matured in French Oak barrels for 18 months.
From the Pauillac appellation and ranked as one of the original four 1st Growths (1er-Cru) in the famed 1855 Classification of Medoc, Chateau Latour is one of the great Bordeaux wine estates.
Chateau Latour is one of the oldest continuous Bordeaux wine-producing properties in the Pauillac appellation with vines being planted as early as the 14th century. Today it is one of the most famous wine estates in the world. The name Latour, derived from the original Saint-Lambert tower placed close to the chateau (and more famously on the label), is a classic symbol of Bordeaux. The tower was in fact built as a pigeon roost around 1620.
