Ruffino "Ducale" 1962 Chianti Classico Riserva
Chianti Classico, from the heartland of Tuscany, is one of Italy's iconic wine regions - the original Chianti - and, since 1924, identified by the stamp of a black rooster on gold.
Ruffino was established in 1877 when cousins Ilario and Leopoldo Ruffino established a small winery in Pontassieve near Florence. It currently produces a variety of different wines from several regions in Central and Northern Italy however is best known for its Chianti.
The wine is Sangiovese dominant, with up to 25% of the blend permitted to be constituted from a small handful of other approved grape varieties. As a "Riserva" classification, the wine has been matured in oak for a minimum period of 21 months prior to bottling.
